**PRE-ORDER ADVISORY**
pre-orders help to cover the up-front cost of the release in a way that beneficially reduces risk for trust fund. however, obviously for the buyer there is an increased element of risk inherent in committing to the purchase of a somewhat unknown quantity. in an attempt to mitigate disappointment, pre-orders would be encouraged if you believe you would enjoy an album that offers the following:
- 10 songs, in the keys of G, A(?), E, F/G, C, E again, G again, A#, E again, and D.
- a full and uncompromising turn towards adult-oriented rock, including 78 seconds of audible clarinet
- tempos ranging from 85 to 190 bpm, including three songs conducive to movement or dance
- lyrics touching upon the now-classic TF themes of listlessness, disavowal, and the fetishisation of regret, with details specific enough to feel frank and confessional, yet non-specific enough to allow for the listener to substitute in their own life experiences
- several 'fake-outs', 'ad libs', and an assortment of 'musical jokes'
- an increase in song-length across the board
- extensive use of the 'mothership' guitar pedal

Oh, so you’re the river, are you?
You’re the river the city’s named for
It’s good to see you bubbling by
I’m in a lot of trouble and I need to talk to you
From one natural body to another
I wanna talk to you
Oh, she’s moving on and I still love her
Oh, so you’re the river, are you?
You’re the river I wanna talk to
It’s us two running alike
Two sunk ships in the night
I only know one constellation, and that’s Orion
If I said I didn’t need her I’d be lying
All her messages, I would read aloud
But the girls in the group chat, they alone can help her now
For her messages, I would wait forever
But the girls in the group chat alone know her plans for the summer
And sometimes I envisage her on the ridge reading Carson McCullers
But the girls in the group chat alone know her plans for the summer

Present, Tense is the first song I ever heard from this band. As an American/Canadian, I definitely misheard every single lyric, but I loved the song. This is a Martha staple, and should be an introductory album to the band. Never change, Martha. Fuck the binary. thorseus
